Ode to Nalda: A Grand Opening to Remember

Last month, the Cathedral Basilica Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador marked a true milestone: the grand opening of the L.G. Ronalda Hutton Recital Hall at Palace Commons.

The evening, Ode to Nalda, brought four generations of the Hutton family together on one stage for an intimate performance of music and remembrance, a fitting tribute to the legacy the hall now carries forward. Voices young and seasoned filled the space, and the night stood as a reminder of what music can do to bring a community together across time.

The hall was named in honour of Ronalda, known to her family as Nalda, Hutton, and its opening performance was as much a celebration of her life as it was the debut of a new home for music within the Basilica Block. This hall will host recitals, concerts and performances for years to come, and we are honoured that its doors opened with an evening this rich in talent and heart.

Thank you to everyone who made the night possible, and to everyone who filled the seats to celebrate it with us.
