Advent Festival of Lessons & Carols

- Sunday, November 30, 2025 @ 6:30 PM
Step into the beauty of Advent on its very first day with the 30th annual Advent Festival of Lessons & Carols at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Founded to reclaim Advent as a time of spiritual preparation, this cherished interdenominational tradition combines choral music and Scripture readings in a program “woven together by a stunning script,” which this year explores the theme of HOME.
Attendees often describe the evening as peaceful, prayerful, and deeply moving—last year one guest shared, “Wow! Wow! Wow! What a beautiful performance. We were transported to a state of peaceful reflection.” From the opening prelude to the final notes, this festival invites you to pause, reflect, and embrace the true spirit of the season.
Admission is by freewill donation in support of the Basilica Music Ministry (onsite via cash or card, or online via e-transfer to basilicafinance@rcsj.org). Seating and prelude music begin at 6:30 pm, with refreshments served afterward. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed at https://www.thebasilica.church.
